Strategy and Tips for Roulette
Top Roulette Tips
As with many casino games, online roulette is essentially a game of chance but there are some things you can do to significantly increase your chances of being a more profitable casino roulette player. Some of these are discussed here.
1. If you want to build some sort of pattern into your wagers go for the even money bets, dozens, and column bets. Patterns can help you to focus, though the house could become aware of them too. This may not matter, depending on the site you are playing, but it is worth being aware of.
2. Try and place most of your roulette bets in areas that offer the lowest House Edge. This doesn’t mean riskier bets are not worth a punt (like the street, split or straight-up) but try to weight your betting to the ones that have a lower house edge. Remain flexible too, and don’t stick to just one route of entry. Variety is the spice of life, and roulette, after all.
3. Weight your betting on even money bets gives the house the lowest edge (approx 1.3%) such as Red/Black, High/Low and Even/Odd bets.
4. Remember, you can reduce the House Edge, but you can’t eliminate it! Stop when you are ahead (make a plan) and only bet what you can afford. This is the single most important thing of playing any online casino game. Why risk something you cannot afford to lose?
Roulette Etiquette
With any casino roulette or online roulette game you have the normal rules to follow. However, there are unwritten rules that should be followed as well. Many of these rules will come with time and, as with a great many things, vary from site to site. However, a few of the most often seen rules are as follows:
Þ Dealers are not allowed to take money or chips from your hand. You must lay it on the table.
Þ Always place your chips on the numbers you are betting on. Don’t toss or throw your chips on the table. Ask the dealer if you need help reaching a specific number or set of numbers. But remember, they cannot take the chips from your hand.
Þ Wait to ask for change in between the spins. Once spinning, the table is in play, your fellow players will not want their focus broken.
Þ Most casinos have rules about eating or drinking at the roulette table. Familiarize yourself with those rules. Not necessarily relevant to online gaming, but it may take your focus away from the game in hand.
Þ Don’t collect your chips until all winnings have been paid. This helps avoid confusion for the dealer and other players at the roulette table.
Þ Do not touch your chips once the dealer states, “no more bets.” This is likely to have you removed from the table, though many sites have lock down procedures to assist you with this.
Þ It’s normally considered respectful to tip your dealer before leaving the table.
New players should make sure to understand and familiarise themselves with all aspects of the game before they sit down to play roulette. With a little bit of time and Mr Roulette, you can confidently play at any casino or join any online roulette casino game and have a great time.
