Roulette Rules and Regulations

For the novice, it is important to learn the rules and regulations of casino roulette. That should really go without saying, but you would be surprised with the number of people that just jump straight in. Unsurprisingly, these same people are rarely to be found cashing in huge piles of chips at the end of their session!

Think about it, how can you expect to truly win big with roulette unless you know the rules and regulations? This is why Mr. Roulette made this page, and we congratulate you on finding yourself here.

Even the seasoned players need a timely reminder every now and then. Bookmark us now, you may regret not doing so.

If you’re completely new to the game of roulette, we would highly recommend that you first familiarise yourself with the table layout. It is also important to understand bets and of course payouts. There are many free online casino software available all over the web to help you do this in your own time, and with no pressure from other players wanting to close the table.

How to play online Roulette

The first thing to do before playing roulette is to select the size of bet you wish to make. The chip denominations are usually shown on screen, or through a handy pop-up menu, so just select how much you wish to wager then place on the roulette table.

There are several bet options available. Some of the most popular are:

Inside Bets: Straight-Up, Street, Corner, Split and Five-Number

Þ Straight-Up is a bet you place on a single number.
Þ Street is wagering on three horizontal numbers on a single line.
Þ Corner is a four number bet in an intersecting square.
Þ Split is simply betting on two numbers that are adjoining vertically or horizontally.

Outside Bets: Red/Black, High/Low, Odd/Even, Dozens and Columns

Þ Red or Black is a wager on the roulette ball stopping in a red or black slot.
Þ High or Low is betting on (low) 1-18 or (high) 17-36.
Þ Odd or Even is similar to Red or Black only with odd or even numbers.
Þ Dozens allows for a bet on 12 sequential numbers.
Þ Columns is a 12 number bet on one of the columns of numbers on the table.

The standard payout for each betting option varies, but the lowest House Edge will come from playing the outside bets. The odds of your bet will depend on the origination of your roulette game. For instance, American roulette has different bet odds than French roulette.

Once you’ve placed your bet the dealer will then send a ball spinning in the slotted wheel, and whichever slot the ball lands in will determine who wins and who loses!

These are of course just the basic rules and regulations. Each online casino site will have its own house rules, which you should familiarise yourself with. A confident player is more likely to be a successful player.
