Roulette Myths and legends – the truth about the wheel

No other game has as many myths as the roulette. Could it be that it is because it is hundreds of years old? No one knows for sure.

Some myths have persisted for so long, that they need to be addressed quickly.

• All roulette wheels are identical. As the American and European wheels differ with 0 and 00 on the slots, so do online wheels, where some are custom made with different sizes and colours. However, the European wheel gives you odds in your favour due to the fact that it does not have the 00 on it.
• Each spin is not random. This is quite a common myth, in that the history of previous spins affects the outcome of the next spin. Odds are still 50% – %50 that it will either be black or red.
• Other myths include bettors wagering on sleeping numbers. These are numbers that the ball has not yet fallen into. The chances of a number coming up is still 1 out of 36 on every spin.
• Beating roulette with a mathematical theory. Completely impractical. These do not work for the simple reason that past data cannot be analyzed. Roulette is a true game of chance.
• Finally, money management affects your wins. Not true. The house continues with their advantage whether you apply such a system or not.
