Roulette Cheats – Magnets
As with most casino games, the temptation to rig the odds and beat the system is one too good to resist for the cheat.
Roulette wheels were often the subject of bias in the nineteenth century, prior to standardisation of the wheel. Unscrupulous operators had rigged their wheels ensuring that they did not lose big money to lucky players.
One of the oldest methods of rigging the wheel was using magnets. This method worked by placing a magnet on the table and another magnet in the ball. The forces of the magnet would combine to allow the ball to land in a specific area.
To allay suspicions, it was extremely difficult to get the ball to land on a particular number anyway, but with such forces at work, landing the ball in one area could pay off handsomely. Accordingly, such practices were used with the Orphans bet which covers two slices of the wheel.
