Session

Set
In Pai-Gow poker, players can set their seven cards into two separate hands of two and five cards.
Seventh Street
In seven-card stud, the fifth and also final round of betting. The players have seven cards.
Shark
A player posing as an amateur early in the game.
Sharp
An astute bettor.
Shill
A person who actively plays for the house, club, or casino. Often seen at a Baccarat table to fill empty seats.
Shiner
A small mirror or a reflecting device used by a cheater to see unexposed cards.
Shoe
Device, often a wooden box, used for holding and dispensing playing cards that will be dealt.
Short Run
A short series of wagers or games.
Showdown
In concluding a poker game, the players who remain must show their hands to determine the winner.
Shuffle Tracking
A higher level of blackjack play strategy used by card counters.
Shuffle Up
Premature shuffling of playing cards by the dealer.
Shuffling
This is the term used for mixing cards using various techniques to prepare a deck or a shoe for continued play.
Shutter
A flap that covers a number on a reusable bingo card.
Silver Mining
Or slot walking. A person looking for coins left in unattended slot machines.
Single
A straight bet on one selection. Commonly known as a straight-up bet.
Singleton
In a poker game, a card that is the only one of its rank.
Sixth Street
In a seven-card stud poker game, the fourth round of betting is called sixth street because all players have six cards.
Skin
A dollar.
Skin Game
In poker, a game having two or more cheaters.
Skinning the Hand
In a poker game, a cheater’s technique to get rid of extra cards.
Skoon
A dollar.
Slot Club Member
By becoming a member you are given a card (like a credit card). Casinos calculate comps based on a player´s usage of this card. Inserted into a slot game.
Slot Walking
Named also Silver Mining. People looking for coins in unattended slot machines.
Snake Eyes
When you roll a two in craps.
Soft Count
The count of the contents in a drop box or video game receipt collection.
Soft Count Room
Where the soft count is carried out.
Soft Hand
In a blackjack game, any hand that contains an ace counted as eleven.
Spinner
A good winning streak.
Spooking
Used in a blackjack game. A player at the table receiving secret messages about the dealers´ cards from an observer.
Spot
Any number from 1 to 80 on a Keno ticket selected by a player.
Stack
A stack of 20 chips in a column used in Roulette.
Standing Hand
In blackjack, a hand which hard-totals to 17 or more. Players may lose if they continue.
Steaming
A blackjack term where a player has become frustrated and becomes irrational in their wagering.
Stiff
In blackjack, a hand that is not good and that may bust if hit again. Stiffs include hard twelve through to sixteen.
Straight Keno
The basic keno game, played by marking individual numbers on the ticket.
Streak Betting
Often known as Progressive Betting. A player can raise or lower the size of their wager based on what is happening.
Stripping
This is a shuffling technique which will reverse the sequential order of the cards in the deck.
Stud Poker
One of the two common forms of a poker game. The other is draw poker.
Played with open or exposed cards.
Suit
Any one of the four types of cards: clubs, diamonds, hearts or spades.
Super Stud Poker
This is a five-card poker game known as Caribbean Stud Poker and also Casino Stud Poker.
Surrender
In blackjack and roulette, to give up your bet for the privilege of not playing out the game.

A method of betting, usually mathematically based
