Hand
Refers to the cards that a player holds, or to everything that happens in a card game between shuffles of the deck.
Hard hand
In blackjack, any hand that does not contain an ace valued at eleven.
High poker
Standard poker, compared to low poker or lowball. In high poker, higher hands always win.
High roller
A player who bets high amounts of money.
Hit
In blackjack, taking another card. The card a player receives is also called a hit.
Hod ‘em
Another class of poker games
Holding your own
Breaking even. Not winning and not losing.
Hole card
In blackjack, the facedown card that the dealer gets. In stud and also hold ‘em poker, the facedown cards are dealt to each player.
Hot
A player who is winning often, or a slot machine that pays out.
House
The casino, also the dealer or banker.
House edge
The percentage of a bet that you make and the house takes in. Winning bets are paid off at less than the true odds to generate income for casino.

Rules established by the casino that players and dealers adhere to
