Famous Roulette Gamblers

The game of Roulette has attracted many characters over the years due to its perceived status as a premier casino game. The bets have sometimes been huge, the wins and losses are just as famous as the gambler themselves.

One of the earliest legends was Joe Jaggers who went to Monte Carlo in 1873 and applied his system to win a six figure sum on the roulette wheel. Charles Wells followed him several years later winning at the same casino using the same technique.

Roulette has been featured in famous movies such as the Sting, Run Lola Run and Casablanca where hard luck characters have ended up winning a fortune by sheer luck.

In 2004, Ashley Revell played at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas and placed $135,000 on Red 7, and doubled his bet to take home $270,000. Revell has sold all his possessions prior to the bet and had travelled from the UK.

Famous Roulette Gamblers are such because of the huge risks they take on their bet, ones for which the average player would loath to take given the potential loss if the bet did not come off. Yet these are the bets that give Roulette its infamy and popularity.
